Smart Bandages
Can’t tell if your wound is getting infected? Know more about bandages and protect yourself and your wound.

A bunch of bandages in the research stage may keep you out of trouble. Sensors in a bandage developed by scientists at the University of Rochester can screen for bacteria or viruses in a wound, signaling the need for antibiotics. A US Department of Agriculture researcher is working on a smart bandage that would help cure cronic wounds by blocking an enzyme that breaks down proteins and hampers healing. Still another bandage from the University of Virginia draws oxygen-rich blood to damaged tissue to speed recovery.
