The International Guide To Tipping
The rules of tipping vary in many countries. While America is strict about it and Europe expects it, China allegedly considers it rude if you tip the bellman or the waiter.
France 12%-15%
Service charge is usually included in the restaurant and hotel bills.
Germany 10%-15%
Service charge is included in the bills but it is customary to give a small additional tip.
Hong Kong 10%-15%
Common for most services, but not expected.
Indonesia 10%
Usually included in the bill. Sometimes, an additional 10% is given.
Japan 10%-20%
Usually included in hotel and restaurant bills, but tipping is not common.
Israel 10%-15%
It is usually included in hotel bills and sometimes in restaurants bills.
Italy 10%
It is usually expected for most services.
Saudi Arabia 10%
Usually included in the restaurant or hotel bill, however adding 10% or more is common for special services.
Mexico 10%
This is common for most services.
Russia 5%-10% of the bill for restaurant and for hotel service. 20-50 rubles for most services from porters to tour guide drivers.
Malaysia 10%
Common for porters and room services.
The United Kingdom 10%-12% Service charge is usually included in the restaurant bills.
