Flaw-Fixing Makeup Tricks

Chances are, you’ve got something that bugs you about your looks. It could be one of your features – like puny eyelashes – or a temporary problem, like a zit the size of an FX. Whatever your issue is, let our genius pro tips help.

1. Sculpt Sexy Cheekbones
Sky-high, supermodel-esque cheekbones are easy to fake: Suck in your cheeks to create a hollow, then fill in that area with light bronzer. We like The Body Shop Sun Domes Palette, P1,195. Next, dust shimmer powder on the tops of your cheeks. The light-dark shadowing will make your cheekbones pop.

2. Accentuate Your Nose
If you want to highlight your nose, steer clear of The Noseline (a.k.a. the “riles” look). Instead, tap blush on the apples of your cheeks, run the brush lightly over your nose, then swipe highlighter on the bridge down to the tip. This looks more natural than drawing two ugly strips of brown blush.

3. Cover Up A Pimple
To hide a monster zit, start by freezing a cotton swab that’s been soaked in anti-redness eye drops. After the swab is cold and hard, lay it on the pimple for 10 minutes. The coldness should take down the swelling while the solution reduces the redness. Then dot on a salicylic acid-spiked concealer. Try Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Medicated Concealer, P970. At night, hasten healing with a spot treatment product like Clean & Clear Pimple Clearing Speed Gel, P122.50.

4. Revive A Pale Complexion
After a crazy night, when you have that partied-out pallor, tap a fluffy brush in rosy blush, then in loose powder. Flick the excess product off the tip, and swirl the bristles as lightly as possible over your cheeks, forehead, and nose. This trick will make it appear as if your blood is actually pumping.

5. Fix Botched Brows
If your brows are looking uneven or too thin (waxidents happen!), re-create their ideal shape with brow powder. Lightly brush on little, upward, hairlike strokes until you’re satisfied. Light to medium brown works in most cases; the idea is not to go too dark. Try ModelCo Eye-browz Designer Brow Kit, P1,400, to groom your arches.

6. Conceal Acne Marks
Downplay pitted acne scars by spot-applying primer into the little hollows. Primers usually have a silicone base, which make them thick enough to help fill in the spaces. Try MAC Prep and Prime Skin, P1,350. Use a sponge, which offers more control and smears the product less than fingers. Following the same technique, pat foundation over the primer, then finish with an allover layer of translucent powder to set the makeup.

7. De-Puff Undereye Bags
First treat them to a cool compress (even a washcloth dipped in cold water) for 10 minutes. You can also place cold teabags over the area; pros believe in the reviving effect of this antioxidant-rich treat. Then, apply concealer on the area just beneath the bags. This trick erases puff-enhancing shadows.
